Faith Communication in the Digital World 2023 application now open

An opportunity from the Dicastery for Communication open to young communicators from around the world
The world is becoming increasingly digital, and as a result, the way we communicate has undergone significant changes. Communication is no longer limited to traditional media channels, but rather it has expanded to various digital platforms. As a result, the Vatican’s Dicastery for Communication has launched the “Faith and Communication in the Digital World” initiative to address the need to communicate in the modern age.
The Faith and Communication in the Digital World project is now in its third edition, and it continues to be a platform for discussing the challenges and opportunities presented by the digital world. The initiative aims at promoting an understanding of the role of communication in the Church, as well as fostering a dialogue between Church leaders and communication experts.
“Sharing the mission of communication and the creative vocation with 15 young people like me from different parts of the world was an extraordinary experience of communion, friendship, affirmation, and hope to go beyond service to the church through art, listening, inclusion, truth and collaboration”, says Kike Delgado, program alumni and SIGNIS youth member. “It is a great opportunity to embody synodal communication and to share one’s talents for the greater good”.
In this third run, the Dicastery for Communication of the Holy See is seeking 16 Young Potentials to communicate the faith through digital media as it “renews its commitment to continue the experience of learning-by-doing in a synodal perspective of mutual listening and sharing about how to communicate the faith in the digital world”.
The group of young communicators selected will be able to undergo a unique training experience and take part in the development of concrete communication plans and tools. At the end of this experience, they will spend a week in Rome for full-time activities and obtain a certificate of participation in the project from the Dicastery.
Fr. Stanley Kozhichira, President of SIGNIS Asia, shares that “Asia is the largest continent in terms of territory but the digital continent is the biggest of them all. Historically, the Church has sent missionaries to different countries to spread the faith but the time to send them online has arrived. In Asia, this initiative from the Dicastery is awaited and welcomed as it would serve a very diverse, multilingual, and multicultural community in supporting their efforts to communicate faith”.
It is a unique experience as it brings together a diverse group of experts from different fields, including communication, theology, and technology. By doing so, it provides a holistic view of the challenges and opportunities of the digital world, as well as a comprehensive understanding of the Church’s mission.
If you are a young communicator under 35 years of age and you are interested in this initiative, you can apply until the 21st of April, 2023, by sending your CV, a letter of recommendation, a letter of motivation, one recent passport-size photo, and work samples to this email address: faith.communication@spc.va
