SIGNIS Asia Assembly 2025 concludes with a renewed call to “Communicate Peace, Build Futures”

Manila, Philippines — The SIGNIS Asia Assembly 2025 (SAA2025) held in the Philippines concluded Oct. 25 after four days of intensive reflection, dialogue, and collaboration among Catholic media leaders and communicators from across the Asian continent. 

Guided by the theme “Whispers of Hope: Communicating Peace, Building Futures,” delegates affirmed the urgent role of faith-driven communication in confronting division, ecological crisis, technological disruption, and the erosion of truth in the digital age.

Hosted by SIGNIS Philippines, SAA2025 gathered journalists, broadcasters, digital creatives, educators, theologians, and pastoral communicators from 10 countries. Through keynote sessions, group dynamics, and workshops, participants explored concrete pathways to strengthen ethical communication rooted in Gospel values—particularly in fragile public environments marked by polarization, disinformation, and despair.

In its concluding statement, the Assembly reaffirmed that Catholic media must not be mere observers of conflict or chroniclers of decline, but builders of social trust, protectors of human dignity, and heralds of hope.

Delegates committed themselves to fostering peace-building communication across cultures, religions, and fractured civic spaces; championing truth with charity in the face of misinformation and malicious manipulation; amplifying the voices of the poor, displaced, and silenced in both mainstream and digital narratives; and forming new generations of ethical media workers, particularly among youth. They further resolved to harness evolving technologies responsibly so that innovation may serve communion rather than fragmentation, and to collaborate across borders within the SIGNIS Asia network for joint projects and capacity-building initiatives.

As the Assembly closed, SIGNIS Asia leadership urged delegates to translate their resolutions into daily communication work. The emphasis was on returning home not just encouraged but tasked with a mission: to ensure that media ministries become instruments of peace, builders of futures, and bearers of hope in a world overwhelmed by noise.
