SIGNIS World Congress Seoul Organizing Committee launches the SIGNIS World Congress Seoul 2022 to be held from August 16–19 next year at Sogang University, Seoul, Korea. Cardinal Yeom Soo-jung hopes “Media will spread the culture of love and life”.
(Seoul – Yonhap News) Reporter Yang Jeong-woo: The organizing committee of SIGNIS World Congress Seoul 2022, where Catholic journalists and communicators from all over the world will gather together, was officially launched on the 27th of August.
SIGNIS Korea announced on the 28th of August that the Organizing Committee held an inauguration mass jointly offered by Cardinal Yeom Soo-jung, the Archbishop of Seoul, and 12 priests at the Coste Hall of Myeongdong Cathedral the day before.
In his homily, Cardinal Yeom commented, “Today’s media is a means of two-way communication, helping to us understand each other better, but it can also be a source of misunderstanding and distrust.” He add, “I ask you to make good use of the media, which is the precious blade the Lord has given you, to spread the culture of love and life on this land.”
Former Prime Minister Han Seung-soo, the Chairman of the Organizing Committee, said in his commemorative speech, “Since the World Congress is being held in Korea, an I.T. powerhouse, we will prepare an opportunity for Catholics around the world to come together using the Metaverse showcasing Korea’s technological prowess.”
The organizing committee consists of 108 members, including Catholic laymen and clergy, who are active in fields of broadcasting, newspapers, publishing, advertising, new media, and education.
SIGNIS World Congress Seoul will be held from August 16-19, 2022, under the theme of ‘Peace in the Digital World’ at Sogang University, Seoul, Korea.
